Sketchbooks can be called many things - journals, notebooks, visual ideas books, visual diaries, workbooks...
A sketchbook provides a unique way to observe, explore and store information about whatever arouses your curiosity and interest. Ideas can flow through experimenting with drawing/mark making techniques, linking ideas, using annotated notes and simply enjoying the creative process. Sketchbooks are fascinating artworks in their own right - full of creative observations and ideas.
They also feed into further projects such as sculpture, painting, ceramics, textiles, interior design, event planning - they have limitless potential!
This short course will cover drawing and mark making skills through the use of a variety of drawing and printing materials and methods including monoprint and collagraph print. Inspiration from the structure, texture, pattern and colour within natural and man made forms will be a starting point for you to begin your sketchbook journey.
Suitable for all abilities. Sketchbook and materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring any of your own drawing materials that you may have at home.
Sasha Kingston is a member of the Makers Guild Wales, combining print, stitch and drawing to express her fascination with line and form. Sasha is also offering a Saturday morning short course starting 17th November.
